Run2Paris: Frequently asked questions

This bucket-list adventure for five mates, each running a half-marathon daily, is achievable, exhilarating, and packed with unforgettable moments. Below, we’ve answered all the key questions from the original FAQ and added extra details to help you and your crew get ready. Still curious? Reach out at run2paris.co.uk/contact.

When is Run2Paris?

There are two identical events in 2026, 30 April – 3 May and 10-13 September. Each event kicks off with registration and a safety briefing on Day 0  at our London event hub. Collect your participant number, meet your mates, and get buzzing for the adventure. The run starts early Thursday in London and wraps up Sunday alongside the Eiffel Tower in Paris, with return ferry travel on Monday after the event.

How far is the route?

The total distance is 225 miles from Wimbledon, London, to the Eiffel Tower, Paris. With five runners over four days, each covers roughly 12 miles daily (about a half-marathon). Legs vary slightly—some shorter (e.g., ~10k on Day 2), some longer (e.g., the Queen Stage on Day 3)—but all are achievable for runners of all levels.

How do we cross into France?

All teams travel together on an overnight ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe on the evening of Day 1 (Thursday).  The return ferry on Monday is also covered, so your team car and five runners get home hassle-free. Think road trip with a running twist!

How much does it cost to take part?

Team Entry: £1,200 for a team of 5 (£240pp), with early-bird discounts available. Fundraising target: £2,000 (£400pp, with £300pp due a month before departure).

Individual Entry: £250pp, fundraising target £400 (£300 due a month before departure). We’ll match you with a team via our runners pool.

The registration fee is non-refundable.

Where do we stay?

Your registration fee includes camping at basecamps on Friday and Saturday, with tents provided and set up. Enjoy hot showers, hearty meals (dinner Thursday–Saturday, breakfast Friday–Sunday), and a vibrant social hub to swap stories with your team and other runners. Optional yoga and massage sessions keep you ready for the next day’s run.

Why do we need a vehicle and two drivers?

Your team of five needs one vehicle with at least two drivers (who are also runners) to shuttle non-running teammates between changeover points and get you home after the event. Drivers must be comfortable driving in France, including central Paris. Provide your registration plate and passport details in advance. Our driver pack includes routes, parking, changeover points, and local cafés for snacks.

Can we bring another vehicle?

Your entry fee covers a return ferry crossing for one team car. Additional vehicles require extra ferry tickets (contact us at [email protected] for details). Each car must have at least two drivers happy to navigate in France, including Paris.

Can I take part on my own?

Run2Paris is a team event requiring five runners. If you don’t have a full team, register as an individual (£250pp), and we’ll match you with runners of similar ability via our Facebook group. Teams with fewer than five members cannot participate.

Can my company enter a team?

Absolutely! Run2Paris is perfect for corporate teams looking to bond and conquer an epic challenge together. Sign up as a team of five (£1,200) and make unforgettable memories while raising funds for our charity partners.

Is there an age restriction?

The minimum age is 18. There’s no upper age limit—if you’re fit, able, and up for the challenge, we’d love to have you join the adventure!

Do all participants need to run each day?

Yes, each team member must run one leg (~12 miles) per day. Your team can decide who runs which leg each day, giving flexibility to mix it up.

Can different runners cover the UK and France stages?

No, the same five runners who start the event must complete it together, running one leg each day from London to Paris.

What happens if someone gets injured or can not run a stage?

If a runner is injured or unable to continue, contact the event team on the day to discuss options. Possibilities include a teammate running two legs in a day or skipping one leg per day, but all teams must maintain five runners to complete the event.

What do I need to pack?

Pack smart—your team’s gear must fit in one car! Check the full kit list here, including:

  • Essential Kit: Passport, travel insurance, EHIC card, emergency contact details, Runner’s Bible (provided at registration).
  • Running Kit: Bright, visible clothing ideally reflective, daily running gear, wet/hot weather kit, spare trainers, socks, gels/jelly babies, foot care first-aid, water bottle, phone carrier, power pack.
  • Post-Run Kit: Hoodie, waterproofs, warm clothes, rehydration salts, flip-flops.
  • Camping Kit: Sleeping bag, roll mat, eye mask/earplugs, towel, wash kit, medicines.
  • In-Car Kit: Phone chargers, battery pack, foam roller, snacks, music, 10L minimum drinking water daily.

Do we need our own insurance?

Yes, each participant must have personal travel and motor insurance covering the event, including driving in France. Check with your provider to ensure you’re fully covered for Run2Paris.

How will Brexit affect the event?

We’re closely monitoring post-Brexit travel regulations, including passports, visas, and vehicle requirements. We’ll provide clear, updated guidance well in advance to ensure a smooth journey for all teams.

How will we navigate the route?

Each team receives a live tracking device (doubling as your baton), passed between runners at changeover points and recharged nightly at basecamp HQ. Download the RunGo App for turn-by-turn directions (headphones recommended). Teammates, friends, and family can follow your progress live via the tracker. Our route map keeps you on course through roads, trails, and towns.

What terrain should we expect?

The 225-mile route mixes road running, trails, and some off-road sections. You’ll cross roads, run through towns, and tackle open countryside. The route is meticulously planned for safety and enjoyment, but always stay aware of your surroundings and run responsibly.

What is the fundraising requirement?

Each runner must raise £400 (£2,000 per team), with £300pp due a month before the event. Funds go through the Run2Paris Foundation to our partner charities. A fundraising page is created for you at registration, and our team offers support to hit your target. Donations made directly to the charities don’t count toward your goal unless you notify us.
