May 2025 Rosie & Her Run2Paris Adventure

You will never taste Fish & Chips as delicious as the ones eaten at the end of Day 1.

Day 1

You will never taste Fish & Chips as delicious as the ones eaten at the end of Day 1.   The relief of seeing your last runner in, a nice warm shower, maybe a massage and waiting for the overnight ferry gives the teams A chance to all be together.  A great opportunity to chat continually on the day that’s felt like you have been away for forever.   One of the greatest things about Run2Paris is that each individual’s journey is unique and there are always stories to share.

No one can really prepare you how this event will impact you and that’s why it’s not just a running event.  The running seems secondary to all the crazy logistics involved in this challenge and this soon becomes apparent when the first runner departs.  Other team members have chance to finish their breakfast, work out the route and may try and see their runner along their leg to give them moral support and check if they need any supplies.  With the trackers going, there is a real buzz to see where everyone is and if the navigation is being followed.  There is an anxious wait at each checkpoint to cheer all the runners in.  As change overs happen between runner, its fundamental to sign in and out, plus hand over the runner tracker.  This ensures race control knows where each runner is at any one given time.  The checkpoints are super fun with cheerful, friendly crew who have treats, water and will advise if you have questions.   There is also a medic team who are on the route the whole team way with us.

You soon adopt support to all the teams as you work together not to get lost and willing for Rungo the app to work seamlessly.  The official Photographer is seen snapping along the way snapping capturing each moment.  Each leg has its own challenges and so plan carefully who runs when and if you don’t want to run solo, find a team of your pace and run together.

Day 2

Whilst sleeping on a ferry floor after a totally eventful day may not seem appealing, it really does add to the experience.  Whether you managed to get any sleep or not, you will be buzzing to start the next day.  Now being in France is super special and its exciting making your way to the start.  An absolutely delicious breakfast feast is waiting for you as the sun rises and Runner 1 gets their kit on and ready to go.

The route today is mainly flat and pretty as you go along an old railway line.  There is less technical navigation and the day is shorter, which gives the body some precious time to recover.  Some teams decide to run 2 legs today but remember there are still 2 long days to go!  Take time to enjoy this incredible scenery and chat to people as you go along, and bonding with the other teams makes this event even more unique.

You arrive at a lovely campsite and your tents are already up waiting for you.  You may want to explore the village, or use the opportunity to catch up with sleep and rest weary limbs.  The showers are warm, the campsite is great and the Angels massage team are once again working hard and put on a well recommended stretch session for everyone!  Then it’s all down to the great Town Hall on mass for another magnificent feast and time to hear from the charities and the Run2Paris team.  It’s more than a banquet and once again time to sharing stories from the day as it seems so much has happened.  Whilst some still like to stay out and drink, others are more than ready to roll into bed!

Day 3

This day is simply just stunning.  The amazing views, villages and countryside will get you through this day.  Often teams will see you at adhoc places along the way to keep you motivated and this definitely a day when it’s good to try and run with others.  The banter and chat make the miles go quicker and the pain feel less real.

This is definitely the time to try the wonderful French bakeries and supermarkets with the treats tasting even better after running all those miles.  Keep hydrated, check the weather to ensure you wear the right kit and amend as needed as this day is quite exposed.  There are some really tough legs on this day, so again chat through with the team to work out the right person for each leg.  It’s a great boost to see other members of the Run2Paris crew along the way with and remember the medic team are never far away.  Once again, you are cheered in and time to relax, get another massage or medical advice before exploring, napping or taking a shower.

The Run2Paris crew have found the most amazing campsite, with great facilities nestled in the ground of a magnificent chateau.  The team prepare the best BBQ and desserts.  As the food digests, it’s a good time to watch the night sky and wait for all your electricals to charge up before falling into bed!

Day 4

This is the day when we finish in Paris and everyone is running on adrenalin.  Spirits need to be kept high as everyone is sore and tired.  There is a nervous excitement but also anticipation as no one really wants this adventure to end.

Once again, it’s a beautiful day of running but navigation is trickier and there may be some testing times.  All the teams spur each other on and each person just wants to keep inhaling the experience.  There are many logistics to the leg, with meeting your last runner at the mile to go, and being there for each other as you do that last mile together to reach the end and finish beneath the Eiffel tower.

It is more than magical.  You and your team mates have worked consistently to overcome all the hazards from the last 4 days to reach this point.  The months of training, fundraising, getting prepared with kit and logistics have finished in this pinnacle moment.  Savour it, relish it and celebrate each other.  The connections you have made with your team and the other teams are extraordinary.  It will feel like you have been away for so long and the event will have such an impact on you, which will always stay with you.

Once you have had the bubbles, taken the photos, phoned loved ones, its highly recommended to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening in the Frog.  This hip restaurant and bar is the best atmosphere post event and all the run2paris crew are there to help you celebrate this astonishing achievement.  It’s a brilliant opportunity to talk over the highs and the lows reminiscing on all the favourite and amusing parts.  This time its sleeping in accommodation of your choice before rushing off the next morning to get the return ferry home or staying to explore Paris.  Â
